Personal magnetospheres to protect against radiation
Have robots build habitats for humanity on other planets, before we arrive on them.
Build large space vessels in orbit around earth so that we can launch from there.
Building wormhole stargates! Yes. I said it – Star-Gate.

A Golden Dawn flavored Martial Art

When one studies most Asian Martial Arts, one is inundated with the belief systems of the cultures they come from.

You learn Buddhism, Shinto, Daoism, Confucianism as you learn Karate and Gongfu. You learn about a Universe made of the five elements: Fire, Earth, Metal, Water, and Wood – or the world divided into the 8 symbols…

But what about a system built on a belief system that you already have in the bag?

There is no reason that a martial art or fighting system cannot be built on the four classical elements of Earth, Air, Fire, and Water used in the Golden Dawn. I would like to build a system that incorporates the four elements as well as other aspects of the Golden Dawn system: Tree of Life, Middle Pillar, Sefirot, 12 Zodiac Animals, etc.

As I develop it, I’ll write my notes in pages.

For some reason, I have got it in my head that I have to choose one identity over the other, that I must choose between being Azi the guitarist and Azi the bassist. Is there a reason I can’t be both? If I am recording, I can do both, but does that also hold when playing with other people? I do not know.

What I do know, is that I love playing both instruments, and that I REALLY love singing. I need to do more of the singing…

Part of my internship is to make a poster to present to the rest of the NASA community the findings of your research. As what I am doing is not really research, but just making curriculum, I have had a bit of a challenge coming up with a poster design.

What I am really doing is designing, building, and managing the NASA Robot Project website.

In traditional Chinese martial arts, the masters recommend a spiraling energy and motion to generate a lot of striking power. It’s called “sill-reeling” energy. The masters are absolutely right. If you incorporate this silk-reeling – you’ll generate more power in striking.

The part where the masters are so very wrong is the explanation.

The masters explain that the longer the energy travels from the ground, around the body, and out the point of the strike – the harder the hit. This is not correct. How far something travels doesn’t determine how hard it hits. Ever seen anyone knocked out by a snail? I haven’t either. The power comes from the speed, and has NOTHING to do with how far the strike travels. Silk-reeling is the real secret of Bruce Lee’s one-inch punch.

So, where does this speed come from?

The spiraling energy creates an alignment in the body such that there are layers of stacked motion. What? Hmmm… there might be another way to describe this.

Imagine a train traveling at a given speed – let’s say 50 mph. And on that train, there is a model train traveling at 10 mph, and on that model train there is a mouse running at 2 mph, and on that mouse there is a flea jumping off that mouse at 1 mph in the same direction. What you end up with is a flea leaping at 63 mph!!

When you are using silk-reeling, you are adding up a bunch of small, fast motions. The velocity of the strike will be the sum of all the little velocites – which can be pretty fast if you are “stacking” the twitching movements.

So the masters are absolutely correct to suggest that the spiraling energy generates more power. They are just “off base” in their understanding of physics and therefore their explanations are not correct.

How important is speed to striking power?

The formula for the power of a strike is written like this:

P=(mv²)/2

So if the mass (m) is the same, but the velocity (v) is doubled, the power is QUADRUPLED!

(m(2v)²)/2=(4mv²)/2=4*((mv²)/2)=4P

Although both speed and mass are important, speed is the most important of the two.

On a piano, if you go up 12 perfect 5ths, you end up where you started. But that’s the piano, which has less than perfect fifths, so that you can pull this off.

If you consider that a Perfect 5th is a frequency ratio of 3 to 2 ( 1.5) and an octave is 2 to 1, we get the following situation:
